What I Wore Sunday...Vol 2

Hi all.

So this week I am cheating, because we actually went to mass on Saturday evening.  So I actually wore this Saturday.  But liturgically it counts right?

Anyway here goes.

I admit to looking like a big dork here, but oh well.  Anyway, first I have a sweater from Kohl's that I bought with my birthday money, I know ladies and gents, I actually bought some new clothing, crazy! Next is a jean skirt from at least 6 years ago, because I remember wearing it prior to getting married.  Then we have the purple tights from Target that my 2 year old picked out from me.  And because it was cold I opted for the white 80s like leg warmers, but hey I can wear what I want to right?  And last my favorite shoes ever, my Sanita clogs.  I so recommend these shoes for those of you with high arches because they offer amazing support; my feet never hurt in them.

And there you have it folks, what I wore "Sunday."  Check out some more great Sunday outfits at Fine Linen and Purple by Emily and Kendra.

7 quick takes...the evening edition

1. I am trying to get myself together to blog more.  So despite the constant interruptions and sleep strike we seem to be going through here I am.

2. I managed to make 20 origami cranes.  And in the process of doing this I learned that even if I have a book on origami, I prefer to look up things like how to make a paper crane on the internet.  Maybe its because there was a video tutorial and thats how I learn better.  But I notice I do this with cooking too.  So I guess I am part of the paperless generation.  I at least still read real books to my kids.

3.  We got pictures done for Ephraim's 1 year old shots.  I tried to get a few pictures of the boys together, but either I had Ephraim getting up and walking right to me or I had Benjamin refusing to look at the camera and smile.  At least we got a few good shots of them separate.

4. I finally got to the dentist this week and I am again cavity free, this has been for about 2 years now.  This is good because when I was in grad school the stress of it made me have like 12 cavities, it was insane.

5. The boys and I traveled all over the neighborhood handing out flyers for a Halloween block party that was supposed to be tomorrow.  It looks like mother nature doesn't want it to happen though since its supposed to rain all day and the party was supposed to be an outdoor gig.  Maybe we will have to try in the spring again.  It was fun going around to all the houses.

6. Somehow both my boys have decided that wake up time is the crack of dawn, and with Keith's work schedule that happens to make me have to get up at the crack of dawn, and yeah, I am not so awesome at it.  I think that I only got through because of the naps that I managed to sneak in the last 2 days.

7. Even though this is the second go around with potty training, I decided to make a sticker chart to really make things happen this time.  So here's to hoping it works.  I have stickers, candy and a big prize to earn at the end of the chart, which is going to not happen over night so hopefully it works this time around.

Check out more QTs at Conversion Diary. Peace out.

What I wore Sunday...

Though this was taken outside a convenience store, this was my church outfit for today.

I am so not the fashion knowing person, but I can say I am wearing a shirt that I picked up at a garage sale, a skirt that I got on sale at a department store a while a back and black running tights with flats.  Ask me about the brands and I still have absolutely no idea.  :)

Happy Birthday Little E

Dear Mr. Ephraim,

A year ago your birth shocked me.  You would think it wouldn't have since you were 8 days late, but it still did.  The labor of your birth was so quick, so different, my mind and body were in such different places.  So much so, that when we arrived at the hospital I had no idea that I was fully ready to push you out into this world.

You have taught me so much, so many things that I thought I would have known because of you being the second child, that still I have learned for the first time around with you. Things like how I actually can function on almost no sleep.  How to actually have a baby who sleeps in their car seat and use this to an advantage.  How to deal with a baby who actuals really wakes in the middle of the night for long periods of time.  And probably more than what my mind can think of...

But the point is that you stretched me,  you stretched me in your beauty as a unique child of God.  You helped me to see a lot of myself that I had been hiding.  You helped me to balance more and you most importantly forced me to rely on God through it all.

But enough about me, you are a wonderful blessing to our family.  I'm so excite God chose your dad and I to be your parents.  As you grow I see who you are becoming and that is someone full of enthusiasm and focus.  You don't like TV right now, that is quite okay by me.  You also don't like to sit through story books but I think one day you will.  You are super strong and have been since birth.  You make the best sound effects just like your dad and it makes me jealous that I can't even begin to attempt them.

You probably hold the record of baby food throwing, but that is okay, it only sometimes makes me want a dog.  I love how cuddly you are, and that you really are a mama's boy to the true definition right now, you will accept no substitutes.  You have the best tilty-head side smile, and while Keith, your daddy would say that is because of me and my crooked smiles, I would say no, it is all you.

In you, I see your daddy so much.  If you were to look at your daddy and then you, there would be no doubt with that cleft in your chin and those big blue eyes that you are his son.  On the other hand, I also see your uncle Kirk in you and from that I know you are my son too, among other things.

You rock the walkers and you love to dance with me in the kitchen.  You love to go for wagon rides and ride in the carriers on mama and actually you don't mind strollers sometimes too.  High chairs, except your own, are another story.  Somehow you always manage to escape out of the restaurant ones.

I always have to keep my eye on you as you are one sneaky dude and if I forget about you for one second you have somehow managed to make a giant mess of food or towels, or clothing, or gotten all the way upstairs.

You love, love, love water and because of this you have made me have to get out of my water hating world.  In this you are like your daddy again, but that is okay because I love you both.

And now mama is tired, but I just wanted to say Happy Birthday Little Ephraim Gerard!  I love you and and I love being your mama!
